I wrote an article this past week about a certain sect of supposedly “Christian” gay and lesbians who had some radically disturbing ideas about Jesus. They claim that through masturbation they were drawn into a deeper relationship with Him. You can read that article here: Weekend Word: Masturbating with Jesus?
I didn’t know the article was going to go in the direction that it did. Although it was not my intention, it turned out to be a debate on whether or not a homosexual can be a Christian. Again, this was not my initial intent in publishing the article. I was more focused on the masturbation issue. However, since it did go in that direction I’d like to open this issue up for further discussion.
Are the terms “homosexual” and “Christian” in direct contradiction and opposition to one another? Or, is it possible to be both? What are your thoughts?

Are the terms “homosexual” and “Christian” in direct contradiction and opposition to one another? Or, is it possible to be both? What are your thoughts?
Yes.
No.
If one is a slave to Christ, they would not idenify themseleves as a “homosexual’. They are a sinner, yes, but they are a Saved sinner. The key is Lordship. Obedience to God has never been optional, it is required. One’s heart is either in submission to Christ or it is not. One is either saved or is not. One is under God’s authority or one fights or is indifferent to His authority. One worships the one true God of scripture, or one worships an idol. There is no middle ground or grey area. Never has been.
The so called ‘gay christian’ movement and its supporters, worship an idol, plain and simple. God hates idols. It is evil in his sight. Repentance must be proclaimed to all thise who will listen.
btw: “masturbating with Jesus” should make us drop to our knees and pray in despair! How utterly far we have fallen from God when such evil does not bring pain to our hearts! Our mouths have been shut long enough. The last three chapters of Judges comes to mind!
Thanks for your comments Mark. No one really seemed to be interested in this thread, but I really appreciate your insight.

The answere to the question is NO a homosexual can’t be a christian. In order to be a christian you have to be christ like, you look like Him, love like Him, do what He does. If we say that it is okay to be a homosexual and still be a christian we would be admitting that Yahshua (Jesus) is ok with homosexuals and homosexuality reflects one of his characteristics. This completely and utterly goes against scripture.
We read in 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11
Do you not know that THE UNRIGHTEOUS WILL NOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD? Do Not Be Deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor HOMOSEXUALS nor SODOMITES, not theives, nor coveteous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extertioners, will inherit the kingdom of God. AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU, BUT YOU WERE WASHED, BUT YOU WERE SANCTIFIED, BUT YOU WERE JUSTIFIED IN THE NAME OF YAHSHUA (JESUS) AND THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD.
These are definitely not my words and anyone can open up this scripture and read it. These are simply the words of our heavenly father and he does not stand to condemn any person who practices homosexuality but says that of all the listed unrighteous things one is able to be sanctified and delivered and then justified by the name of Yahshua. There is deliverance and hope for people struggling with homosexuality but I cannot say that there is acceptance of their behavior. If that was the case theives, adulterers, all the people of sodom and gamorrah would be able to enter the kingdom of heaven and this we clearly know is just not true. Yahshua said He is coming back for a righteous, holy people. People who reflect who He is and if we say that a homosexual or sodomite can be a christian, we are saying they are christ like and reflect righteousness, which would be contrary to scripture, which simply recognizes these acts as unrighteous.
Another scripture I would like to bring up is Romans 1: 26-32
For this reason God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in their own persons the due penalty for their error.
28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind and to things that should not be done. 29They were filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, covetousness, malice. Full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, craftiness, they are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters,* insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, rebellious towards parents, 31foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32They know God’s decree, that those who practise such things deserve to die—yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practise them.
This second scripture reference is self explanatory especially in pointing out the fact that homosexuality is unnatural in the eyes of Yahweh. But verse 32 is what got me because it states that people not only practice such acts but encourage others to do so. These people I believe are gonna receive a grave punishment for leading Yahweh’s people away. I understand that we want to help people who are struggling with homosexuality, but we cannot confuse them to tell them that the act is ok, if we do that we condemn ourselves and their blood is on our hands. We need to be wise in this and understand that there will be opposition, but the word of Yahweh is the word of Yahweh and it is not compromiseable and neither is He. We need to identify with this sin as any other sin and have compassion and mercy. The same that was shown to us when we were in our sin. I hope I am clear on these points
I would also like to remind people of what was occuring in sodom and gomorrah. There was immense sexual perversion going on such as besteality, homosexuality, and sodomy (anal intercourse, particularly between men). That Yahweh sent his angels to destroy this land because their sins were so great. If this was the case why would he just up and change his mind and say homosexuality is ok. It’s just not true.
For anyone who is struggling with homosuality it is not christians that condemn the act of homosexuality it is Yahweh himself. But he doesn’t do this without offering help. It is not you he doesn’t like it is the sin that wants to overtake you. The enemy wants you to think that homosexuality is a lifestyle and accept it so he can have dominion over your soul. But please see that Yahshua delivers, and he can and he will. It might take more than what you think you have but press until you are set free and find people who will press with you. Work your FAITH, and see your deliverance until you walk into it. He says his name can help you, and when you are delivered he will justify you and offcourse we all now that whom he justifies, he also glorifies to be conformed to the image of his son. Homosexuality is put in the same category as the sins of adultery, idolatry and theivery but there is hope. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us that there is no sin that has overtake us except that which is common to man and that with each temptation there is always a way of escape. There is such a mental hold that the enemy wants to put on the mind of people to make excuses for such sins as homosuality but we have to rightfully divide the word of truth and put the enemy in his place and know who Yahweh has called us to be. If we find ourself struggling with something that the word says is not righteous we need to seek help and if the person were going to for help or counseling is telling us it’s ok to commit these acts we need to turn from them and seek someone who is able to intercede for and with us. If were not able to do it for ourselves the scriptures let us know that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. I honestly believe that the best source for strength is our heavenly father but at times things can be overwhelming and we just need support from someone who will really intercede on our behalf. It’s not easy but we can’t accept homosexuality or any other unrighteous sin as a way of life and then say we are a christian at the same time. They are complete opposites. A house that is divided against itself cannot stand. Righteousness is not comparable with unrighteousness. Yahshua is not comparable with sin. I would therefore like to leave this last scripture of encouragement. Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be open. Be like the persistant widow and continue to knock until you receive your deliverance. Yah Bless

Anointed said…..”In order to be a christian you have to be christ like, you look like Him, love like Him, do what He does.”
How than can you call yourself a Christian?
Christ said…Matthew 7 (New International Version)
Judging Others
1″Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3″Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
I always cringe a little when I hear people throwing their own opinions of what a Christian should be and never quoting or even minutely behaving as Christ would have.
It’s best to research history when reading the Bible also. So many details about the writers and what was going on at the time of the actual writings makes me think opinions and superstition played a huge role in their takes.
And than of course my biggest problem with the passing on of the Bible over the ages…. I’m sure you can all remember the “Chinese telephone” game where one friend would say something and you’d pass it on through several children until the last person said it out loud. How often did the words come out so differently than initially quoted?
I wonder how often this has happened with biblical teachings. I have chosen to believe that G-d hasn’t allowed the words of Christ to be changed. There is always the possibility that they were, but somehow I have to believe that people aren’t that evil.
I trust in the direct quotes of Christ ONLY. Christ taught only LOVE. He taught about PURE LOVE. How can we somehow take from that the idea that judging is Christ-like?
I would believe that Christ Himself would have welcomed a homosexual to the church and if He truly did believe that it was a sin, He would have helped the person help themselves. With all the evils in this world, just how can we sit an judge things like this? Wouldn’t Christ feel better about us feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, stopping violence of all sorts (including war)….ya know, things that show PURE LOVE.
And by the way Anointed…do you have a beard and long hair that you refuse to cut? That was the Jewish tradition of those times and you did said you must look like Him.
Ya know why Anointed wrote a whole page of opinions about homosexuality?
Because Christ NEVER talked about it in the Bible.
You will find other things about sexual immorality, but NEVER did Christ say it.
Why? Because He WAS perfect. He didn’t judge. He loved us no matter what we were and He DID want us to live like Him…..
Not judging, but loving and assisting people in need.
psamantis. LOL.
The word is the word and it will never change. There is no opinion in my comment and neither was I judging anyone. I hope you did read all that I wrote because I offered many words of encouragement and only spoke about scripture and not my opinion (please read the scriptures), and neither did I judge or condemn. If the words offended you, I can’t help that because they were only scripture. And please read the story of sodom and gomorrah in the bible and you will understand that one of the reasons that GOD HImself destroyed sodom and gomorrah was due to the extent of their sexual sins, which included sodomy and homosexuality. I hope you read the scriptures and the rest of what I said then if you have any questions we can dive into the word and hopefully agree.
“I do not wish to be added to the mailing list”.
I am not judging, all am saying there is no way you can be a christian and homosexual.
psimantis says that Christ never talked about it, i say In the beginning there was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God, Jesus is God incarnate and did not start existing 2000 years ago he is/was/always will be.
He has talked about it in Genesis,Deuterenomy, Judges, Romans and Revelation and it is the same thing homosexuality is unnatural, abomination and them that practise it shall not see the kindgom of God.
The bible is not a chinese telephone sort of thing, it was written by a perfect God through imperfect people and hence his standards remain the same. What he says in his words is not obsolete by the mere fact we are more knowledgeable etc.
I tend to think God hates the sin of homosexuality, but hates the person, so any homosexual christian out there, there is hope, God is more than able to transform you, think Pastor Donnie the anointed worship leader.
God bless.
“Because Christ NEVER talked about it in the Bible.”
Christ NEVER talked about pedophilia either. Is that then justification for individuals to engage in it? Does Christ’s alleged silence on an issue arbitrality toss it in the acceptability column?
Your mischaracterization of Christ’s mission on earth is part of the problem of sin itself. Your theory is false based on Christ’s dealing with the woman caught in adultery, which of course is a sexual sin.
His response was perfectly balanced love and judgment.
Go and sin no more. The sin was that she was using her body to participate in things outside of God’s will and harmful to herself. The GO was not condemnation, but conviction.
Unlike many religious homosexuals today, she took his words to heart and forsook her sexual sin, followed Jesus. That is the real issue. Do we conform our lives to holiness or obfuscate the mission of Christ with smart sounding theories?
Yes, of coarse you can be a a homosexual and a Christain at the same time, but I I believe that a person who indulges in this behavior is very unaware of the power of God to deliever them. I also think that a person must want to be delievered from and free from such things. God’s punishment for this behavior, however, remains the same for a person who commits a sexual felony through adultery, forniication, murder, or what have you. The punishment is no different. But if you are clearly reading and understanding the word of God about all these behaviors then you will know that you should make every effort to abstain from them. God explicitly states that homosexuality is an abomination to him and men having this burning desire to have sex with one another, did the unnatural thing and God gave them over to reprobate minds because they did the unthinkable. But if you read this and do not understand it, then something is clearly wrong. When you no longer resist the power to sin, I believe there is where the problem lies. Everyone is capable of sinner but when you openly and conscientiously make a decision to be a lesbein, a prostutite, a drug addict, an adulterous, or what ever else, then I see that to be the bigger problem because you no longer use the power of God to resist Satan’s temptation. And now we live in a society which says it is ok to live a lifesytle of perversion, no matter what it be. I really believe that is the fundmental problem, that Christians no longer have the will or desire to resist their temptations, so now we have partnered with the world giving it ok to live in such a way. Yes, I do believe that God can love a homosexual and I think that a homosexual can love. However, I do not think that it makes it right. Also, I want to say I think homosexuality began in the church, man hiding under the cloak of God and secretly having sex with men and boys.
Blessings All,
God created them male and female and they were to be fruitful and multiply. Two male or female human creations of God cannot fulfill the will of God. It really does not require extended conversation just ask yourself these two questions :
1. Can man make blood?
2. Can a man reproduce without a female?
I believe the answer to both is no. God made some things just simple, so simple that it would confound the wise. Why, because self gratification which is found in Satan can be found in man who belives at some point in his/her life that it is more important to please the flesh.
People drink, steal, cuss, fornicate, do drugs, and many other sins because there are not enough sold out Children of God standing up for what is right(eous) in God’s sight.
My brother remember Jesus did not have to give attention to this abomination because He was the Word of God from the start just because He later became flesh that is the Word in action for those who fail to believe by faith that He is and serves a God who changeth not.
It is wrong as well as other sins, but this one totally leads to the destruction of mankind, think about it if everyone was involved with the same sex how could and would mankind survive.
Pray for the deliverance of all who believe that they are living a saved life and are christains to include the other sins also. It’s all about acceptance, what the children of Isreal accepted always lead to there destruction.

•…..Because Christ NEVER talked about it in the Bible.
Jehovah/Jesus had already given the law before He came in the flesh:
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Lev 20:1913 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
…You will find other things about sexual immorality, but NEVER did Christ say it.
He said it all when He was Jehovah. READ THE LAW.
Why? Because He WAS perfect. He didn’t judge. He loved us no matter what we were and He DID want us to live like Him…..
It is not judgment God will judge. You need to consider it warning:
Eze 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
READ GOD’S WORD PEOPLE!! PLEASE.
Hi, Everyone. I’ve been away on vacation but I’m back in the saddle and ready to go! So the question is: can a homosexual be a Christian? This is a good question.
Let’s define the term “Christian” here. According to my understanding, the term “Christian” (XRISTOS– from the original Koine Greek; MESSHIACH–from the Hebrew) literally means to be ‘The Anointed’. And based on the terms usage in the New Testament, that definition is traditionally broadened to mean one who is Christ-like or similar in character and personality to Christ (compare Acts 11:19-26).
If a man or woman that has a homosexual lifestyle comes to the Church and has a genuine, transformational experience with God, then my answer is yes. This is based upon the fact that after being saved, no one is instantly morphed into a perfect being with a pristine lifestyle. Maturity in Christ is a process and It takes time. Indeed, God is longsuffering and patient toward all His children. If this new convert is planted in a mature church and is diligent in his/her personal disciplines of prayer and Bible study, one would expect to see gradual changes in behavior and relationships over time, which would ultimately end in the person experiencing a wholesome, heterosexual lifestyle.
If, one the other hand, a practicing homosexual comes to the Church and claims to have the same transformational experience, but expresses no desire to alter their effeminate or bulldyker behavior after sufficient time, then this person cannot be truly considered Christian. Why? Christians are all always growing and expanding spiritually. We are also producing spiritual fruit (i.e., love, joy, peace, meekness, etc.).
This, along with our abandonment of sinful behaviors, is an evidence of the Spirit of God residing in us. If someone is not growing in grace and developing relationships in a Christ-centered manner, it’s a telltail sign that the person is either not truly a Christian or totally committed to everything Christ has for them. Either way, they’re not being Christ-like. So, in this case, my answer would be an emphatic ‘no’–the person is NOT a Christian.
My opinion is based on my observation with a family member who I love dearly. I will relay what I told my nephew who contends that he is a homosexual. Firstly, he made this announcement as if he was a sub type of homo sapien. Of course I said that he was not a homosexual but a man. I refuse to believe that people’s idenity are determinded by their sexual behavior. I believe God made us more than that our sexual practices. God gave us greater value or we would be worthless until we reached puberty. I pointed out to my nephew that he was given all of the identifible characteristics of being a MAN. What really upset him was when I said that I didn’t believe that any one WAS or IS a homosexual and that people who proclaim this behavior to the world are confused about their being. Of course I knew that this statement was inflamatory, but I wanted my nephew, who I love dearly, to understand that participating in a this kind of sexual behavior fails to make him anything other than a precious soul. His worth is in who God says for him to be, and that begins as man. I told my nephew that this was a behavior issue with a “hole in the soul” origin and he was choosing to behave in this manner, with his body. He is choosing a way that is harmful, unnatural and unpleasing to Yahweh, the Creator. I know that my nephew is rebelling against everything that his parents taught him and against God’s teachings. He is ingaging in more than physical behavior, he is rebelling and scripture says rebellion is the same as witchcraft.
My nephew remarked that he prays and he believes in Jesus Chirst as the Son of God. Of course, I said that I was glad to hear it, but my question to him was, ” What do you expect from your Heavenly Father when you pray?” My wonderful nephew hung his head. He felt ashamed. He knows that I love him like he is my own son. I didn’t have to tell him anything about it being wrong by what the Bible says, he already knows it because he feels convicted. Sadly, he walked away from the discussion I know that he believes that I don’t understand. But I do understand how a behavior, a sin/iniquity can holds him in such bondage. I also shared with him that he can be free from this lifestyle, but he doesn’t want to because he feels an acceptance and a sense of belonging. God intends for Him to fill that void, but he won’t let go for there to be room for God. I have my own areas of struggle, but I want to please God so I refrain and fight to not do what is displeasing to my Father in Heaven. But, my nephew doesn’t have that desire. Unfortunately. my nephew avoids me now and he will never admit it, but he feels ashamed. Is my nephew a Christian, a follower of the Son of God? I don’t have to make that assessment. My nephew, by walking away from me and the conviction that he felt, said it all. He knows that his behavior is not the right thing for him to do. He knows that he is not serving Jesus. At least, he is honest enough with himself to know that he feels shame and he knows why he feels shame. He isn’t deluding himself like some that say they practice this behavior and also have a personal relationship with God. It isn’t because of any judgement on my part.My nephew feels the conviction of the Holy Spirit. There may be others who seared their hearts and can’t feel shame, but my nephew, as wonderful as he is, doesn’t get a free pass so then no one else does either.
My nephew knows the sin that he refuses to let go separates him from his Heavenly Father and that he is not a “follower” of Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that he will surrender himself and cast down this idol. So, to answer this question, if my nephew doesn’t think that he can be a Christian and indulge himself in this sexual behavior, I don’t either. I don’t believe anyone is a homosexual. They sin with their bodies and want someone to absolve them of this behavior by calling it a genetic condition, or a response to terrible life experience. People are wanting to be acceptable without letting go of a behavior that has a strong hold on them and they would have to let go of pride to be able to confess their sin like the rest of us.They can be like any one who hears the plan of salvation and follows the example of the woman taken in adultery. “….go and sin no more…”
Homosexual? Yep.
Christian? Yep.
Answer to your question: Yep.
Homosexual? Yep.
Christian? Yep.
Answer to your question: Yep.
More unsubstantiated opinion. And trivial at that.

It saddens me that so many people claiming to be christian are so full of hate. Jesus preached to love one another, he preached forgivness. It is not up to any of us to judge another.
God created all people in his perfect image, homosexuality is not a lifestyle. We should love our fellows as they are, as Jesus loves them.
Shame on all of you, you foul the beautiful religion of christinity and when the time comes I hope you are judged as you have judged others here.
Every religion has its Holy Book (s) that defines the guiding principles.
For Christianity – its the Bible
For Muslims – The Koran
For Satanists – its the satanic bible
For Jews – The Talmud
Now, if you are a Christian, what does your Holy Book say about the particular practise that we call homosexuality?
Now, you may not agree with what the Book says, but this does not cancel nor negate the ruling of the Book.
So basically, homosexuals in this instance will have to choose
to go with the Book or their feelings and opinions.
And be man enough to admit what you are consciously choosing to do, don’t hide behind “you’re judging me.”
Okay?
Can a person struggle with homosexual orientation and still be a Christian is wht the question is asking. Deoms create thee ENTIRE orientation, I struggled for YEARS to change and could not, then in about 5 minutes, yes 5 minutes, thee ENTIRE orientatio left when the demons that caused it left.
Was I a Christian BEFORE the demons were cast out or only AFTER they were cast out?
Deliverance REMOVED: Same -sex physically attraction, romantic intrest, fantasy – both verbal and menatl and physiological response to the same gender. It is vital that we understand the CAUSE of these strongholds.
